Daniel Votipka

Daniel Votipka is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at Tufts University and the co-director of the Tufts Security and Privacy Lab (TSP). His research mainly focuses on computer security, particularly the human factors of security professionals. He works to understand the workflows and mental models of professionals performing security-related tasks such as vulnerability discovery, network defense, and malware analysis, providing research-driven recommendations for educational, policy, and automation improvements. His work has been funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), Google, Cisco, MedCrypt, and others, and he has received multiple Best Paper Awards at top security and human-computer interaction conferences. Previously, he served as a Cyber Warfare Officer in the U.S. Air Force, collaborating with the National Security Agency on cybersecurity initiatives.
