Erina Seh-Young Moon

Erina Seh-Young Moon is a PhD candidate at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Information, supervised by Professor Shion Guha, and a member of the Human-Centred Data Science Lab. Her research focuses on decision-making processes within public sociotechnical systems and the implications of introducing artificial intelligence, with a particular emphasis on algorithmic ethics, data practices, and data-driven public services. Using mixed methods, she investigates issues such as homelessness, child welfare, and public sector datafication practices, and has published extensively on HCI and societal impact. She actively collaborates with communities and public institutions to explore how data and computational systems can enhance organizational decision-making while mitigating harm to vulnerable populations.
