Sharifa Sultana

Sharifa Sultana is a researcher focused on Responsible AI and Human-AI Interaction (HAI), currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She is also affiliated with the School of Information Sciences, Global Studies Center, and other institutions. Her research encompasses Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), ICT for Development (ICTD), and design and ethical frameworks. Her primary interest lies in designing culturally and socially compatible technological solutions for marginalized groups in developing countries, particularly rural women. Sharifa is the first Bangladeshi woman to receive the Facebook/Meta Fellowship and actively advocates for the realization of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through her research.
