Vinay Koshy

Vinay Koshy is a computer scientist specializing in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and online community governance. He is currently a postdoctoral research fellow in the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington, working under the supervision of Professor Amy Zhang. His research focuses on developing AI tools to facilitate collective decision-making in online communities and studying the social dynamics of these communities using computational social science approaches.

He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he was a core member of the Social Spaces Lab under the guidance of Professor Karrie Karahalios. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley. Vinay's research uniquely integrates qualitative user-centered design with large-scale quantitative analyses, and his papers have received awards at CHI and CSCW. His work significantly contributes to improving the efficiency of online community governance and enhancing user experiences.
