Katarzyna Stawarz

Katarzyna Stawarz is a Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor) at Cardiff University, specializing in the field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), and serves as Deputy Head of the Human-Centred Computing research group. Her research focuses on leveraging ubiquitous technologies (e.g., mobile devices, wearables, and IoT) to support health and well-being, particularly in behavior change and the formation of healthy habits. In addition, she explores ethical design, inclusivity, and unintended consequences in digital health technologies. Dr. Stawarz has extensive experience in interdisciplinary collaboration and has led and participated in several research projects addressing health technologies and supporting physical activity and exercise. Outside academia, she previously worked as a User Experience Designer and Business Intelligence Analyst and co-founded an innovation start-up to develop interactive wearable safety systems.
