Nur Yildirim

Nur Yildirim is an Assistant Professor at the University of Virginia School of Data Science, where she leads the Human + AI Design Lab, focusing on making artificial intelligence more practical and user-friendly. She holds a Ph.D. in Human-Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon University, with research expertise in human-computer interaction, AI design, and interdisciplinary collaboration. She previously worked as a research intern at Google AI Research and Microsoft Research's biomedical imaging team, and she has nearly a decade of industrial design experience in developing hardware and software products from concept to production. Her research centers on providing resources, methods, and processes for cross-functional AI teams to foster collaboration across disciplines and promote AI fairness.
