Mary Czerwinski

Mary P. Czerwinski is a researcher in human-computer interaction and cognitive psychology. Her public research profiles focus on emotion tracking, information-worker task management, and health and well-being for individuals and groups; her background also includes visual attention, multitasking, information visualization, and large or multiple-display interaction. She led the Visualization and Interaction (VIBE) research group at Microsoft Research and later worked in the Human Understanding and Empathy (HUE) area on affective computing and worker well-being.

She received the ACM SIGCHI Lifetime Service Award, was inducted into the CHI Academy, and became an ACM Fellow in 2016. Indiana University’s alumni listing names her as a 2018 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient; her personal site also records an American Psychological Science fellowship in 2018 and election to the National Academy of Engineering in 2022.
