Priyank Chandra

Priyank Chandra is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Information and the Director of the Socio-Technical Resistance, Ethics, and Empowerment Technologies Lab (STREET Lab). His research focuses on the socio-technical practices of marginalized communities, with a particular emphasis on the role of technology in social exclusion and how to design and evaluate systems that support the needs of disadvantaged groups through social justice and ethical approaches. His work bridges multiple disciplines, combining Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW), Information and Communication Technology for Development (ICTD) alongside theories and concepts from Science and Technology Studies (STS), sociology, development studies, and institutional analysis. Priyank's research has been recognized with awards at premier computing conferences, including ACM CHI and CSCW. Outside academia, he is passionate about mythology, technology, football, and science fiction literature.
