Scott Klemmer

Scott Klemmer is a Professor of Cognitive Science and Computer Science & Engineering at the University of California, San Diego, as well as the co-founder and associate director of the Design Lab. His research focuses on human-computer interaction and design, aiming to empower individuals to create interactive systems, learn new skills, and produce creative work through data-driven design tools, online learning platforms, and innovative methodologies. Previously, he was an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Stanford University, where he co-led the Human-Computer Interaction research group. His work has been widely applied in open-source design tools and courses globally, earning him numerous academic honors including the Katayanagi Emerging Leadership Prize, Sloan Fellowship, and the NSF CAREER Award. He also offers a series of interaction design courses on Coursera, enabling learners worldwide to develop skills in design and user experience.
