Ruta Desai

Ruta Desai is a Senior Research Scientist on the Meta Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) team, specializing in research on human-computer interaction and long-term planning challenges. Her research interests include augmented reality (AR), robotics design, perception and planning, as well as the development of socially collaborative agents. Prior to joining Meta, Ruta completed her Ph.D. at Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute in 2018, focusing on developing human-robot collaboration systems to help everyday users design and program robots. Her academic and professional career spans artificial intelligence, robotics design, and human motor control, with numerous high-quality publications and awards at international conferences.
