Yasuaki Kakehi

Dr. Yasuaki Kakehi is a professor at The University of Tokyo, specializing in human-computer interaction, media art, digital fabrication, and active materials. His research spans areas such as soft sensors, fluid control, information-physical interfaces, and deformation interaction design. He also leads multiple research centers at The University of Tokyo, including advanced courses and design labs in the informatics domain. As a media artist and interactive media researcher, his work and publications have received numerous international awards and recognition, such as the ACM CHI Best Paper Award and the Japan Media Arts Festival Excellence Award. Professor Kakehi actively engages in academic endeavors and takes on significant roles at international conferences, including SIGGRAPH ASIA and ACM CHI. His research lab is committed to exploring new material experiences through the integration of design and technology.
