Jun Nishida

Jun Nishida is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Maryland, leading the Embodied Dynamics Lab. His work focuses on human-computer interaction, wearable technologies, and cognitive science, particularly their applications in rehabilitation, education, and design. His research investigates technologies such as electrical muscle stimulation, exoskeletons, and virtual/augmented reality systems to share physical experiences among individuals. He has been recognized with over 40 awards, including the ACM UIST Best Paper Award, a Microsoft Research Asia Fellowship, and inclusion in Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia. He earned his Ph.D. in Human Informatics from the University of Tsukuba in 2019, and during his postdoctoral research at the University of Chicago, he collaborated with Professor Pedro Lopes in the Human-Computer Integration Laboratory.
