Mark W. Newman

Mark W. Newman is an Associate Professor at the University of Michigan's School of Information and the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He is also a founding member of the Michigan Interactive and Social Computing (MISC) group. His research focuses on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Ubiquitous Computing, and Health Informatics, with a particular emphasis on the design, prototyping, and evaluation of novel technologies. He received the 2009 NSF CAREER Award and the 2012 Teaching Excellence Award. Mark earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.A. in Philosophy from Macalester College. His research has been published in numerous top-tier conferences and journals, covering areas such as smart homes, health data integration, and user experience design.
