Markus Tatzgern

Markus Tatzgern is a Professor of Mixed Reality and Game Development at the Department of Creative Technologies at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences, where he also serves as Research Lead. He heads an interdisciplinary team focused on visualization and interaction technologies for Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), aiming to seamlessly connect the digital and physical worlds. His research interests include adaptive visualization, multimodal interaction, and AI-driven human-centered AR/VR solutions, with applications in training, education, healthcare, human-computer interaction, and everyday augmentation. He holds a master's degree and a PhD from Graz University of Technology. His work has been published in top-tier conferences, including ACM CHI, IEEE ISMAR, IEEE VR, and IEEE TVCG, and he has received multiple patents and honorable mention awards. Additionally, he is serving as Program Chair for IEEE ISMAR 2024 and 2025 and is the Treasurer of ACM SIGCHI Austria.
