Hanspeter Pfister

Hanspeter Pfister is a Swiss computer scientist and currently the An Wang Professor of Computer Science at the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, as well as an affiliated faculty member at the Harvard Center for Brain Science. His research spans the interdisciplinary fields of scientific visualization, information visualization, computer graphics, and computer vision, with a particular focus on biomedical image analysis, visual analytics, and the processing and analysis of large-scale multidimensional datasets. He leads the Visual Computing Group at Harvard, dedicated to developing visual analysis tools for fields such as neuroscience, genomics, and astronomy. Previously, he was a research scientist at Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories and gained widespread recognition for his work in graphics hardware development, such as the VolumePro real-time volume rendering graphics card. He is a Fellow of IEEE and ACM and has received numerous prestigious awards, including the IEEE Visualization Technical Achievement Award and the Mitsubishi Electric President's Award.
