David Weintrop

David Weintrop is an Associate Professor with joint appointments in the College of Information Studies and the College of Education at the University of Maryland. His research focuses on the field of computing education, dedicated to designing, implementing, and evaluating effective, engaging, and equitable computing learning experiences. Dr. Weintrop's work lies at the intersection of the Learning Sciences, Human-Computer Interaction, and Computer Science Education, with a particular emphasis on how technologies such as block-based programming environments can foster students' computational thinking and broaden participation in computing from diverse backgrounds. His research has significantly influenced K-12 computer science curriculum design and teaching methods and has earned accolades such as the National Science Foundation CAREER Award.
