Kurt Luther

Kurt Luther is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Virginia Tech, a founding core faculty member of the Institute for Critical Technology and Applied Science, and the director of the Crowd Intelligence Lab. He has a deep research background in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), human-centered artificial intelligence, crowdsourcing, and social computing, and actively explores the application of these technologies in fields such as journalism, history, and national security. He has received numerous honors, including the National Science Foundation CAREER Award and the Distinguished Technology Alumni Award from Purdue University, and has authored more than 100 academic publications. In addition to his academic research, he serves as chair and editorial board member for several top-tier international conferences, and his research has been widely featured in media. He previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Carnegie Mellon University and earned his Ph.D. in Human-Centered Computing from Georgia Tech.
