Matthew Kay

Matthew Kay is an Associate Professor at Northwestern University's Department of Computer Science and School of Communication, and serves as the Co-Director of Graduate Studies for the PhD program in Technology and Social Behavior. His research focuses on human-computer interaction, information visualization, uncertainty visualization, usable statistics, and personal health informatics. He is the Co-Director of the Midwest Uncertainty Collective and the developer of the R packages tidybayes and ggdist, which are used for visualizing Bayesian statistical model outputs and uncertainty. His research employs diverse methodologies, including qualitative and quantitative behavioral studies, building and evaluating interactive systems, and designing and testing visualization techniques. His work has been supported by multiple NSF awards and honored with Best Paper Awards at various academic conferences.
