Vassilis Kostakos

Vassilis Kostakos is a Professor of Human-Computer Interaction at the School of Computing and Information Systems, University of Melbourne, where he also serves as the Academic Cluster Lead for Mechatronics, Electrical and Digital in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology. He is the Deputy Director of the NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in Digital Interactive Technology and leads the Smart Hospital Living Lab. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Bath, and has held positions at the University of Oulu, University of Madeira, and Carnegie Mellon University. His research interests include human-computer interaction, ubiquitous computing, and social computing, focusing on developing interactive technologies that better understand and respond to humans. He has been awarded a Marie Curie Fellowship and Finland Distinguished Professor Program honor.
