Matt Huenerfauth

Matt Huenerfauth is a computer scientist currently serving as Dean and Professor at the Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). He specializes in developing technology for deaf, hard-of-hearing, and low-literacy users. His research areas include human-computer interaction, natural language processing, and accessibility technologies, particularly those related to applications of American Sign Language (ASL). He has been awarded over $5.4 million in research funding, including the NSF CAREER Award in 2008. Huenerfauth has published more than 130 peer-reviewed academic papers and has been honored five times with Best Paper Awards at the ACM SIGACCESS ASSETS Conference, making him the most awarded researcher in the conference's history. He previously served as Editor-in-Chief of ACM Transactions on Accessible Computing (TACCESS) and was elected Chair of ACM SIGACCESS (Special Interest Group) in 2021.
