Hawra Rabaan

Dr. Hawra Rabaan is a researcher specializing in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and socio-technical design, currently serving as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Maryland, College of Information Studies. Her research focuses on the intersection of religion and technology, social justice, and technological solutions that support marginalized communities. While pursuing her Ph.D. at Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), she worked on designing methods to assist survivors of domestic violence and studied the application of transformative justice principles in technology design. Dr. Rabaan is attuned to cultural and social differences and is passionate about advancing social equity on both global and local levels.
