Steven David Benford

Steve Benford is the Dunford Professor of Computer Science at the University of Nottingham and co-founder of the Mixed Reality Laboratory. His research focuses on the intersection of artificial intelligence and art, exploring human-machine interaction experiences through the creation of robotic artworks. He collaborates with award-winning artists to design robots that can hug, groom, dance, and perform music with humans. His work aims to develop AI systems inspired by artistic perspectives that encourage interpretation and embrace improvisation, while offering new cultural experiences and provoking public reflection on the future roles of AI in society.
