Jan David Smeddinck

Jan David Smeddinck is a researcher and practitioner specializing in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) for digital health. He is currently a Co-Director and Principal Investigator at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Digital Health and Prevention in Austria. His research focuses on interaction design, health gamification, machine learning, adaptive systems, and data analysis, particularly exploring ways digital technologies can promote behavior change for better health outcomes. Previously, he led the Digital Health Cluster at Newcastle University in the United Kingdom and served as the Director of the Master's Program in Human-Computer Interaction. His academic background includes a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Bremen and postdoctoral research at the University of California, Berkeley.
