Yang Wang

Yang Wang is a professor at the School of Information Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He also holds a courtesy appointment in the Department of Computer Science and co-leads the Social Computing Systems Laboratory (SALT Lab). His research focuses on usable privacy and security, social computing, and inclusive design. His work has been supported by the National Science Foundation, Google, Meta, OpenAI, among others, and has received several awards, including the NSF CAREER Award and the IAPP SOUPS Privacy Award. His research has been widely published in top-tier international conferences and journals, and featured by media outlets such as The New York Times and BBC. Professor Wang holds a PhD in Information and Computer Science from the University of California, Irvine, and previously worked as a research scientist at Carnegie Mellon University's CyLab.
