Huaishu Peng

Huaishu Peng is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Maryland. He is also affiliated with the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies (UMIACS) and the Human-Computer Interaction Lab (HCIL). He founded and leads the "Small Artifacts Lab (SMART Lab)," where his research focuses on human-computer interaction, digital fabrication, virtual and augmented reality, as well as assistive and enabling technologies. He specializes in designing hardware and software systems to enable interactive 3D modeling and the fabrication of functional objects using custom-made manufacturing devices. His research has been recognized at top international academic conferences, and he has made significant contributions to areas such as sustainable electronics fabrication and tactile interaction design.
