Elizabeth L Murnane

Elizabeth L. Murnane is an Assistant Professor at Dartmouth College focusing on research in human factors engineering, information science, and human-computer interaction. Her research primarily centers on digital health, especially the development of personal informatics tools to enhance patient experiences and health equity. Dr. Murnane is committed to designing behavioral intervention technologies for public health, STEM education, and environmental sustainability. At Dartmouth, she founded and leads the Empower Lab, guiding students and research scientists in developing innovative technologies such as games, AR/VR, and psychotherapy visualizations through a user empowerment approach, with particular attention to addressing the needs of traditionally underserved populations. Prior to Dartmouth, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Computer Science at Stanford University and earned her Ph.D. from Cornell University.
