Lydia B Chilton

Lydia B. Chilton is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Columbia University. Her research focuses on the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Her work explores how to leverage AI to enhance design, innovation, and creative problem-solving. Her research has real-world applications in areas such as news content generation, public library technology development, hurricane risk communication, science dissemination, and improving mental health services for vulnerable communities. Chilton earned her PhD from the University of Washington in 2016, preceded by her Master's (2009) and Bachelor's degrees (2007) from MIT. She joined Columbia University in 2017 after completing a postdoctoral position at Stanford University.
