Daniel Weld

Daniel S. Weld is the Chief Scientist and General Manager of the Semantic Scholar project at the Allen Institute for AI (AI2). He is also a Professor Emeritus at the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington. He holds dual bachelor's degrees in Computer Science and Biochemistry from Yale University, as well as a PhD from MIT's Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. A distinguished scholar in the field of Artificial Intelligence, his research focuses on Human-Computer Interaction, Collective Intelligence, and Natural Language Processing. He is a Fellow of AAAI, ACM, and AAAS, and has received multiple early-career scientist awards. Additionally, he is a successful entrepreneur, co-founding several companies and serving on numerous scientific and technical advisory boards. He is dedicated to leveraging AI technologies to enhance and accelerate scientific discovery.
