Steven Frost

Steven Frost (they/them) is an Assistant Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Media Studies at the University of Colorado Boulder, as well as an interdisciplinary fiber artist. Their research focuses on textiles, queer cultural history, and community development, often exploring the unique expression of history and time through weaving, combining traditional materials (such as thread and cotton) with nontraditional ones. Frost is the initiator and co-founder of several art projects, including the Experimental Weaving Residency and "Slay the Runway," a fashion camp providing a safe space for LGBTQIA+ youth. Their artwork has been exhibited in the U.S. and internationally, including at major venues like the Denver Art Museum, and they actively advance the integration of fiber art and community through teaching and workshops.
