Kami Vaniea

Dr. Kami Vaniea is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo, where she leads the "Technology Usability Lab for Privacy and Security (TULiPS)." Her research focuses on making security and privacy technologies more user-friendly, targeting a broad audience including end users, developers, and system administrators. Her research areas include patch management, developer-centered privacy, phishing attack prevention, online anonymity, smart speaker privacy, and social media privacy. Previously, she served as a Reader in Cybersecurity and Privacy at the University of Edinburgh and gained extensive experience in academic administration and research roles.
