Selen Tűrkay

Dr. Selen Türkay is a Lecturer in Human-Computer Interaction at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and the head of CLEVAR (Cognition and Learning in Extended Virtual and Augmented Reality) research group. She holds a PhD in Educational Technology and Media from Columbia University Teachers College. Her research interests include human-computer interaction, immersive technologies, and game research, with a focus on user autonomy, extended reality (XR), and the design and evaluation of digital learning environments. Dr. Türkay's work aims to enhance education, professional training, health, and scientific exploration through virtual and mixed reality systems. Her projects involve designing and evaluating VR applications in areas such as construction safety training, planetary exploration, refugee integration, and environmental protection. A prolific scholar, she has published extensively in HCI, educational technology, and game research and supervises PhD and honors students studying XR design, games and wellbeing, and AI-enhanced blended learning spaces.
