Brad A. Myers

Brad A. Myers is the Director and a Professor at Carnegie Mellon University's Human-Computer Interaction Institute (HCII), recognized for his outstanding contributions to computer science, particularly in human-computer interaction (HCI) and user interface design. He is the recipient of the ACM SIGCHI Lifetime Achievement Award (2017) and the Alan J. Perlis Award (2022), as well as a member of the CHI Academy, an IEEE Fellow, and an ACM Fellow. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a PhD from the University of Toronto. Myers's research encompasses natural programming, programming tools, user interface design, mobile computing, and other areas. He has published over 550 academic papers and contributed to the design of more than 60 software systems. His book Pick, Click, Flick! The Story of Interaction Techniques won the CBI Human-Computer Interaction History Award in 2025. With consulting experience for over 90 companies, he is a key leader and pioneer in the field of HCI.
