Lap-Fai Yu

Lap-Fai (Craig) Yu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at George Mason University, where he leads the Design Computing and Extended Reality (DCXR) research group and co-directs the Center for Human-AI Interaction and Social Innovation (CHAIS). His research interests span virtual reality, computer graphics, human-computer interaction, game design, and computational design, with a particular focus on AI-powered and data-driven computational design techniques. He is the principal inventor of the Make-it-Home system, a pioneering automated interior design system. He has been a visiting scholar at the MIT International Design Center and the Stanford Computer Graphics Lab. Craig has received numerous prestigious awards, including the NSF CAREER Award, Cisco Outstanding Research Award, and Microsoft Research Award for Excellence. His lab is supported by institutions such as NSF, Microsoft, Google, and Adobe.
