William Thies

William Thies is a distinguished scholar and technical expert in the fields of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for Development, compilers, and programmable microfluidics. He is currently the Co-founder, Technology Advisor, and Chairman at Everwell, a company spun off from Microsoft Research that focuses on developing and deploying innovative technology for national health programs. Prior to joining Everwell, he worked at Microsoft Research for 13 years, applying technology to high-impact areas such as health and education. He holds bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), with research expertise in programming languages and compilers for multicore architectures as well as microfluidic chips. He actively contributes to academic research, maintains strong connections with the global academic community, and has made outstanding contributions to innovation and social impact.
