Claudio T. Silva

Claudio T. Silva is a chaired professor of Computer Science and Data Science at New York University, where he is also a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering. His research spans visualization, visual analytics, machine learning, geometric computing, urban computing, computer graphics, and computer vision. He enjoys interdisciplinary collaborations and has worked with paleontologists, urban scientists, and sports scientists. Claudio is a co-founder and leader of several research centers, including the NYU Center for Data Science (CDS) and the Center for Urban Science and Progress (CUSP). His contributions to academia have been widely recognized, including his election as an ACM Fellow and IEEE Fellow, and he won the IEEE Visualization Technical Achievement Award (2014). Moreover, he served as a senior technical advisor for MLB Advanced Media’s Statcast system, which won a 2018 Sports Emmy Award for Technology and Engineering.
