Karmen Franinović

Karmen Franinović is a Professor of Interaction Design at the Zurich University of the Arts, where she oversees strategy, education, and research in the field and leads the Enactive Environments Lab. Her research focuses on embodied interaction, sonic interaction design, adaptive architecture, and active materials. As an expert in architecture and interaction design, Karmen designs dynamic and sensory interactive environments and technologies to investigate the interplay between cognition and interaction in social and material ecologies. Her academic achievements include co-authoring the book Sonic Interaction Design (MIT Press, 2013) and presenting her work at internationally renowned exhibitions and academic conferences. She is currently leading several interdisciplinary research projects, including "Interacting with the Ocean: Marine Transformations in Design" and "Microbial Utilization in Soil Ecosystems."
