Jon Froehlich

Professor Jon E. Froehlich is a faculty member at the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington, where he leads the Makeability Lab. He also serves as Associate Director of CREATE (Center for Research and Education on Accessible Technology and Experiences) and Associate Director of Technology Transfer and Outreach at PacTrans. His research focuses on areas including human-computer interaction, urban informatics, augmented reality, accessibility technologies, and environmental sustainability. He co-founded Project Sidewalk, an open-source platform using human-artificial intelligence collaboration to map and assess sidewalks worldwide. Professor Froehlich is a recipient of the Sloan Research Fellowship, the Distinguished Teaching Award from the University of Washington College of Engineering, and multiple Best Paper Awards at academic conferences. His research and teaching span a wide range of interdisciplinary topics, with a focus on leveraging technology to address critical societal issues.
