Gerd Kortuem

Gerd Kortuem is a professor of Internet of Things at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering, Delft University of Technology. His research focuses on the intersection of human-computer interaction, artificial intelligence, and design. He has extensive research experience in areas including smart products, human-centered AI, responsible AI, generative AI, and data-centric design. Professor Kortuem leads the Knowledge and Intelligence Design research group and is involved in multiple labs and research initiatives. Previously, he held academic positions at The Open University and Lancaster University in the UK and worked as a software developer at Fraunhofer Institute, IBM, and Apple. Professor Kortuem holds a PhD from the University of Oregon and a Diplom in Informatics from the University of Stuttgart. He is a renowned scholar in the fields of Internet of Things and Ubiquitous Computing.
