Kurtis Heimerl

Kurtis Heimerl is a researcher dedicated to the field of ICT for Development (ICTD) and is currently an Associate Professor at the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering, University of Washington. His research focuses on leveraging technology to alleviate poverty, particularly in the area of internet access. He developed localized community cellular network solutions to enable low-cost, low-power communication infrastructure in remote areas. He has received awards such as MIT's "Innovators Under 35," the University of Washington’s College of Engineering Diamond Award, and multiple Best Paper Awards at international academic conferences. As a co-founder of Endaga, he helped commercialize community cellular network solutions, deploying the technology across multiple countries globally.
