Nigel Bosch

Nigel Bosch is an Associate Professor in the School of Information Sciences and the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is also an affiliate with the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) and Illinois Informatics. His research focuses on applying machine learning and human-computer interaction in the context of education, including learning analytics, user modeling, and issues of fairness and transparency. His work involves analysis of data such as facial expressions, audio recordings, and user interaction logs using neural networks and machine learning techniques to better understand user behavior. He is also committed to reducing biases in datasets, creating fairer educational software, and developing equitable research methodologies. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Notre Dame and previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications.
