James A Landay

James Landay is a Professor of Computer Science at Stanford University, as well as a co-founder and co-director of the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered AI (HAI). His research focuses on the field of human-computer interaction (HCI), especially in ubiquitous computing and design innovation. Landay has had a significant impact in both academia and industry, including serving as Director of Intel’s Seattle Lab and co-founding NetRaker. His foundational research on incorporating sketch-based methods into user interface design tools has been instrumental to the field. A recipient of the ACM SIGCHI Lifetime Research Award and an ACM Fellow, he is renowned for advancing human-centered AI and emphasizing the positive impact of technology on human well-being.
