Yumei Gan

Dr. Yumei Gan is a renowned expert in the field of video calls and social interaction. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the School of Media and Communication at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Her research focuses on multigenerational interaction in migrant families through video calls, specifically exploring the emotional bonds between left-behind children and their migrant worker parents. In 2020, Dr. Gan received The Chinese University of Hong Kong's "Young Scholar Thesis Award" for her innovative research and profound insights into social interaction. Additionally, she was awarded the Fulbright Scholarship in 2020 and conducted a 9-month research project at the University of California, Los Angeles.
