Riku Arakawa

Riku Arakawa is a PhD student at Carnegie Mellon University's Human-Computer Interaction Institute (HCII), specializing in applied machine learning for health and behavioral sensing. He is a member of the Smash Lab, supervised by Professor Mayank Goel. Previously, he obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Tokyo, where he conducted research in real-time speech conversion with Professor Hiroshi Saruwatari and developed auditory-based behavioral interventions under the guidance of Professor Masahiko Inami. His work has been published in leading HCI conferences such as ACM CHI, UIST, and IMWUT, earning several Best Paper or Honorable Mention awards. Additionally, he is a recipient of prestigious fellowships, including the Funai Fellowship and Masason Fellowship. His research focuses on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Human-AI Interaction (HAI).
