William T. Freeman

William T. Freeman is the Thomas and Gerd Perkins Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and has served as Research Director at Google Research since 2015. He is an international authority in the fields of Computer Vision and Computational Photography, making pioneering contributions in areas such as steerable filters, motion magnification, and Bayesian models. His exceptional research has earned him multiple prestigious honors, including the 2020 Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics (as a member of the Event Horizon Telescope team) and the PAMI Distinguished Researcher Award. Professor Freeman is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and a fellow of ACM, IEEE, and AAAI, maintaining significant influence in both academia and industry.
