Thomas Reitmaier

Thomas Reitmaier is a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at Swansea University, based at the Computational Foundry. His research focuses on human-computer interaction, with a particular emphasis on designing, developing, and evaluating technologies for marginalized communities. His work includes creating voice-driven systems for speakers of minority languages in resource-constrained settings and empowering rural African communities through mobile digital storytelling technologies. Reitmaier holds a PhD from the ICT4D Center at the University of Cape Town, and his career is dedicated to leveraging technology to improve people's lives, particularly in Global South communities. He is also a Fellow at the Morgan Advanced Studies Institute, where he leads international lab projects to explore new co-creation methods in collaboration with marginalized communities during the pandemic era.
