Florian Echtler

Florian Echtler is a scholar focused on the fields of ubiquitous computing, peer-to-peer networks, and security & privacy. He currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Aalborg University. His research aims to challenge the current mobile and cloud ecosystems dominated by large corporations, exploring decentralized digital interaction methods without centralized infrastructure. His work encompasses interactive surface devices, depth sensors, and open-source software development, with a commitment to advancing digital self-determination. His projects have also received funding from the Independent Research Fund Denmark (Danmarks Frie Forskningsfond) to develop privacy-first alternative technologies.
