Hirokazu Shirado

Hirokazu Shirado is an Assistant Professor at the Human-Computer Interaction Institute in Carnegie Mellon's School of Computer Science, focusing on human-machine hybrid systems and leveraging artificial intelligence to address collective action challenges. He leads the C&C Lab, exploring how machine intelligence can assist humans in achieving breakthroughs in collaboration and coordination. His research aims to expand the boundaries of social computing through computational social experiments. He earned his Ph.D. in sociology from Yale University in 2019, studying the formation of social order, collective responses to social dilemmas, and the integration of AI into social interactions. He is a recipient of the NSF CAREER Award and the ASA Outstanding Paper Award.
