Selma Sabanovic

Selma Šabanović is a Professor of Informatics at Indiana University Bloomington, specializing in research on socially interactive robots and human-computer interaction. She is the founder and director of the R-House Human-Robot Interaction Lab, leading research on the design and application of robots in healthcare, education, and domestic environments. Her work integrates computational sociology and science and technology studies, with a particular focus on the design, usage, and impact of social assistant robots in diverse cultural and social contexts. Her research has been funded by the National Science Foundation and other organizations and has been published extensively in academic journals. She served as Editor-in-Chief of ACM Transactions on Human-Robot Interaction and has held visiting scholar positions at multiple international academic institutions. She earned her Ph.D. in Science and Technology Studies from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
